LOL what a week!
Yesterday, Kay’s new post for Science in My Fiction went up: I know why the vampire sparkles. It’s a very tongue-in-cheek look at scientifically explaining that the sparkly vampires in the Twilight books are, in fact, butterflies. (No, seriously.) It obviously hit people just the right way, because after briefly being labeled a Top Tweet on Twitter, the article was linked on BoingBoing! They call it “…possibly the best fantasy fanwanking ever,” LOL! But it’s gotten great response; as of right now the post has over 13,000 pageviews (12,000 unique), and has gotten a ton of attention on Facebook, Reddit, etc. It’s the most-viewed thing we’ve ever produced: CG, SiMF, you name it. The only page on any of our websites to get more traffic in their existence is the CG homepage. Who knew? Kay clearly needs to do more writing at 2 in the morning!
We were on Cape Cod this past weekend. My mom has a timeshare and she invited us (thanks mom!). We drove there on Friday night and came back late-ish on Sunday. It’s a shame we couldn’t stay longer, but with Kay having just missed over a week of work to go to AZ, we couldn’t afford the time off. We had a blast, though. I’ll be doing a separate picspam post on it later – including videos of Baz’s first ocean experiences! (Not counting when he was like 7 weeks old.)
I did get some sunburn while on the Cape. Saturday was one of those hazy days where you just don’t think about sun exposure – 4 adults (me, Kay, my mom and my uncle Gil) and none of us thought to put on sunscreen! All of us got at least a bit burned, though Baz barely any. My arms got it fairly bad, but they’re mostly better now. My uncle I feel really sorry for – he got burned on the tops of his feet and ankles. Wearing sandals or shoes must be very uncomfortable, and he’s going to be on the Cape for a while longer too! Thank goodness for the aloe vera gel we bought (and refer to as “the goop”).
That’s all for now. I’ll try and find time to do that picspam post later tonight.
