Just about an hour ago I sprained my left ankle walking back to work from the bank. It hurt badly enough that I limped my way into the lobby and sat down for about 10 minutes before I decided I could handle getting to the elevator and up to my office. Fortunately after elevating and icing if for a while it feels better, though it hurts like hell whenever I try to rotate the ankle even a little. Walking’s going to be FUN. At least it’s not my driving ankle. (Oh and taking the ice off and lowering it brings the pain to a whole new level. Whee!)
It’s been a crazy couple of weeks (almost) since my birthday. Tons of work, prepping for the Rise Reviews launch, editing for sekrit projects, CG, etc. Also, looks about 95% sure that we’ll have a table at Boskone! Coolness! We’ll have a few different books, magazines – including the very first Crossed Genres Quarterly! – and more. Maybe some buttons too. Everyone loves buttons!
Damn my ankle hurts. I was hoping to play a lot with Baz tonight but this will seriously limit my mobility. Also, when Baz and I play he loves to climb on me, or or have me lift him with my legs. Not happening tonight.
The ankle will also be pretty annoying on Saturday, which of course is Christmas. of course that’s a few days away, but it’ll still be tough to move around, especially with 3 excited kids underfoot (Baz, and my niece Ruthie & nephew Isaac). SO glad we don’t need to do last-minute shopping.
Kay made a stew last night! My mom had a crockpot she never used, so she gave it to us. The stew called for beef, but we substituted black pepper turkey. Result: HOO BOY SPICY! But tasty!
Oh yeah… Baz can WRITE! *flips out* Proud Geeky Parent Moment FTW!
So many other things! A few days ago we were linked to a really amazing app for the iPhone: Word Lens. It uses the camera to auto-translate English text to Spanish or Spanish to English in real-time. (!) It’s not perfect by any means, but it’s seriously amazing technology, and promises to get better – one of the cool things about apps is that developers can constantly update/refine them. I expect Word Lens will not only get better, but will eventually add other languages as well. Kay’s working on a review of Word Lens for Geek Mom. =)
Leaving for home shortly. Not looking forward to the commute.
