Lesson from the mortuary: It’s not personal, it’s paperwork.

Lesson from experience: Expect the worst when fools are in charge.

Everything here is going as badly as I thought it would and in the most sadly predictable ways. It would be upsetting if I didn’t know that’s just how it goes around here. In a way, the chaos is comforting; inexplicable order or perspective would make me worry because it would be utterly foreign in this place.

In spite of all that, I’m happy to be here. My desert is consistently exquisitely home.
